CD vs DD

I'm close to havin' this kid...
So my question is...

??? CLOTH DIAPERS or DISPOSABLE DIAPERS ???

This is my third baby and the first two did disposable diapers...
Loved them!  But have you seen the PRICES?!  Ouch!

And I plan on many more children...
What do you think?  Have you tried cloth?  Anyone absolutely love them?

  1. Everyone I know who does cloth LOOOOVES them! It's like women who have a midwife: they love it and try to convert the mommy world! haha I know over time they do save money and they are certainly not your Mother's cloth diapers these days, they have come a long way. They have some really cute prints and I even know some brands that one size fits them from newborn to like 32 pounds. I have a good friend and her favorite brand is Bum Genius, she swears by them. Says they never have blow outs ever, and she's done 2 babies in cloth.

My only issue is that once I am done changing the diaper, I do not want to see, touch, or smell the poop ever again. ESPECIALLY once they get past the newborn stage and more toddler and the poop starts to really stink. I wanna be done with it when the diaper change is over. If you had a diaper service I could see it being worth it....because then you don't have to see/smell/touch it again.

My SIL does them and she has this really cool diaper sprayer (kinda like a kitchen sink sprayer) and it's pretty powerful and you rinse them out with that before you wash them.

May be more info than you bargained for;) Good luck!

  2. Also, I should say, I have been really impressed with Target's brand of diapers, the Up and Up. They are cheap but good quality and absorbency and they're soft, not like plastic-y. I know Amy liked them and every Mom I asked about them before trying them liked them too. Not as cheap as cloth over time but....you know.

For diapers and wipes (if you go name brand) I would sign up for Amazon Moms. Free 2 day shipping and if you sign up for the auto-delivery (shipment every 1, 2, 3 or 6 months) you save 30%. So I can get Pampers for like 15 cents a diaper.

  3. I used cloth diapers with my son for a few weeks. I really liked them...BUT they are a lot of work! You have to be more attentive to changes and get them changed a quickly as possible. Plus you have to deal with the poop and pee mess (aka have a place to store it if you are out - like a wet bag- and you will have lots more laundry!)

However, I only used them for a few weeks cuz my son has very sensitive skin and since the cloth diapers do not aid in taking away moisture he would get bad diaper rashes VERY OFTEN. So, I went to disposible.
